Spring Term 2010

In Reception Class we have been celebrating Chinese New Year. The children tasted Chinese foods - spring rolls, noodles, seaweed and sweet and sour sauce.

We also practised our cutting skills by making Chinese lanterns.

Dear Parent / Carer,

As part of encouraging reading, we are giving every child in Reception a book pack to take home and share with family and friends.  The book pack has come from an independent charity called Booktrust which hopes to promote reading for pleasure and encourage family engagement in shared reading.  You can visit their website at www.booktime.org.uk where they have activities, games, videos, competitions and book recommendations.

Reception children bring home books to share with an adult every week.  It is important to hear your child read every night as this support will benefit and increase their progress, especially as they move towards books containing simple and then more challenging words.

If you have any questions about reading with your child at home, or want to discuss strategies to aid their reading, please feel free to make an appointment with Mrs Davis, Mrs Riddell or with myself.
